Hok Na Kotha- The Album

Hok Na Kotha is an Album of 8 Bengali Adhunik songs. It brings the very talented Anwesha Dutta and Rik Basu to work with Dr. Raktim Sen, a US-based musician and composer. This album will remind you of the glorious era of Bengali Adhunik when good lyrics and unforgettable melodies dominated. The Album was more than a year in making. Meticulously arranged and recorded in Kolkata the Album is expertly mixed & mastered in Mumbai. “Hok Na Kotha” is an Asha Audio Durga Puja 2017 release

Dr. Raktim Sen

Dr. Raktim Sen is the composer of all the eight songs of Hoka Na Kotha. He also wrote the lyrics of seven of the eight songs in the album. A truly versatile artist, Raktim was initiated to music by his mother who played the Esraj and the Sitar. Raktim learnt the Piano at Calcutta School of Music. He is also the Theatrical Director of Atlanta Theater Workshop, Inc. and the Program Director of IACA Atlanta Indian Idol Contest. Raktim is an alumnus of Bengal Engineering College, Shibpur (now, Indian Institute of Engineering, Science & Technology) and Clemson University, South Carolina.

Anwesha Dutta

Anwesha Dutta is the Zee Bangla SaReGaMaPa 2014 Season Champion. She is one of the youngest contestant to win the contest and has won the hearts of many prominent and legendary artists, including Asha Bhonsle, Kumar Sanu and Hariharan. Her sweet, soulful, melodious voice is so captivating that it is sinmply impossible not to listen to her! “Hok Na Kotha” is Anwesha debut album.

Rik Basu

He is lovingly called “Rik- the Rocker” by Hariharan-ji. A very popular performer, Rik can rock the stage like no one else and his soulful performances are for the books. He is the Zee SaReGaMaPa 2014 Season 1st Runner-up. Rik has been quite busy with his stage performances as well has recordings. Recenetly he has also signed up as a music director for a Bengali film.

Dr. Tirthankar Dasgupta

Dr. Tirthankar Dasgupta is a reputed Statistician, who taught at Harvard for over a decade and is now a faculty Rutgers. It does not however come even close to describing who he is unless we talk about his artistic skill-set. He is a fantastic short story writer, a poet and lyricist, a vocalist, a guitarist and table player. But most of all, he is good soul who an keep you laughing for hours with his wit and humor! Tirthankar wrote the lyrics for “Chaoya Paoya” (Track 5 of the album) and also contributed to the lyrics of “Ogo Priyo” (Track 4 of the album).

Anwesha Dutta is the Zee Bangla SaReGaMaPa 2014 Season Champion. She is one of the busiest artists in West Bengal and Bangladesh. Notable performances in the USA include her captivating performance at the Madison Square Gardens during NABC, 2016 and Atlanta Diwali Mela, 2018. “Hok Na Kotha” (2017) is Anwesha’s debut album. Since then she has released a number of music albums and singles including YouTube super-hits “Chokher Dekha”, “Tu Saath Mera” and the Bangladeshi single, “Joshnar Lukochuri”, reaching more than a million viewers on the Internet.

Rik Basu is the 1st Runner-up of Zee Bangla SaReGaMaPa, 2014 Season. He is a very popular performer and remains busy with his concerts, composing work and recordings. He has given several memorable performances in the USA and Canada in 2015 and 2016. He has several music albums and singles to his credit, including the hit album, “Hok Na Katha” and YouTube singles, “Tomake Khunji”, “Tujhe Pyaar Pyaar Karta Hoon” and “Wole Wole”.

A composer, lyricist, pianist and singer – a playwright, drama director and actor – a documentary film maker and music director – a poet and short story writer – a truly versatile artist, Raktim is comfortable in any and all of these roles.

Raktim was initiated into music by his mother. He later learnt the piano at Calcutta School of Music.  He is the Theatrical Director of Atlanta Theater Workshop. Inc. and the Program Director of IACA Atlanta Indian Idol.
